Our History
1930
The Start of Engels Jewelers
The first Engels Jewelers was opened by the Engels Brothers on S Division St, Grand Rapids, MI.
1935
Expansion
Engels Jewelers expands their business to a bigger location on S Division St, Grand Rapids, MI.
1945
Richard Engels Jewelers Opens
Richard Engels branches out and opens Richard Engels Jewelers located on Chicago Drive in Grandville, MI.
1981
New Owner
Dennis Engels buys the business from his Father, Richard Engels.
2018
Richard Engels Jewelers Closes
Dennis Engels retired and sold all of his inventory and the Richard Engels Jewelers building.
2018
Engels Jewelry Company Opens
Mark Engels, son of Dennis Engels, rebrands and opens Engels Jewelry Company on Wilson Ave in Grandville, MI.

Mark and his sister Carrie Anne work together to run Engels Jewelry and carry on the family legacy.
Meet Mark & Carrie Anne
Mark Engels, Owner
Mark Engels is the owner of Engels Jewelry Co. A Hope College graduate and Diamond Graduate of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), Mark also interned with one of the top diamond companies in the country. But his training started at home, working alongside his father at Richard Engels Jewelers from a young age. When he’s not in the store, you’ll likely find him up north at his cabin and fly fishing on the Ausable River.
Carrie Anne Engels, General Manager
Carrie Anne Engels is the general manager of Engels Jewelry Co. and Mark’s older sister. Like Mark, she’s a Hope College alum and holds certifications in Diamonds from the Diamond Council of America and in Pearls from the GIA. She started working in the family business at just fifteen, and after college, opened her own jewelry boutique in Grand Haven. When their father retired, she chose to close her store and partner with Mark to carry on the Engels legacy together. On her days off, Carrie Anne enjoys beach days, traveling, and fishing trips with her brother.

Buying, selling, and trading precious metals and stones is a family tradition for us, now three generations strong. Our owner, Mark Engels, proudly carries on the legacy started by his father, Dennis, and grandfather, Richard.
